Instead of pooling the third-generation, Audi has twinned its price-sensitive entry-level model with a rivals. Would it not have been wiser to devise a common components set for the oldest A3?
Of course, but now it's too late for last-minute revisions. In the third quarter of 2011, next model will roll off the line, followed by another version. And there might be more Ones to follow - Audi is currently evaluating no fewer than five two-door alternatives.
a replacement for the classic hatchback Audi - a variant with a virtually neutral profit margin
a three-door shooting brake Audi - originally conceived to counter
a three-door Audi - which makes sense unless it cannibalizes touring
a three- or five-door Audi - with controversial proportions and an exotic door concept

Last week a OOYYO spotted the used Audi A3 on a streets of the Valencia, Spain and over the weekend, e spotted the whole fleet of Audi group used cars. A busy day in the Valencia. I saw the A3 get stuck in the traffic direct at the city square. Driving down the hill, a row of three Audi A3 models came driving upwards. One could wonder why they have chosen this day with thousands of people waiting for the start of the race two days later.
A publicity stunt perchance? Several commentators have already suggested as much in the comments on the Audi scoop. Or perhaps some Audi group engineers hanker after an alternative career as Lance Armstrong wannabes!
